Proceedings
The meeting began with a prayer by the members followed by welcome address by the Chairperson, Very Rev.Mother Celine Nirmala. The absence of the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Chennai Region Dr.A.Vennila was recorded which was followed by reading of the minutes of the previous meeting held on 15th September, 2018 was confirmed by the members. It was proposed by Dr.Alma and seconded by Dr.Doreen Gnanam.
The Report of the college activities for the year 2018-2019 were presented by Dr.Joseph Catherine, the Principal. Rev.Mother Celine Nirmala suggested to include the paper presentations of staff and students in the college report. In addition to it, she suggested the staff to apply for major and minor projects offered by various state and central government funded agencies. A discussion was followed among the members about the themes to be selected for the major and Minor projects. Dr.Suniti Sanwal insisted to include the clarity of purpose in the Research proposal. The members jointly suggested to apply to the agencies like MHRD and ICSSR twice a year.
Dr.Doreen Gnanam and Dr.Vasimalai Raja congratulated the faculty and the students for the various activities throughout the academic year. Sr.Odilia, the Provincial enquired about the various social issues dealt in the Jetlee book of world records and appreciated the staff and students. The college report was approved by Sr.Odilia and seconded by Sr.Pauline Mary.
The minutes of the Finance Committee meeting was read by Sr.Rosita and this was followed by the presentation of the budget for the financial year 2019-2020. Dr.Suniti Sanwal enquired about the amount allocated towards the Orientation and Re-training of Teachers. She further suggested to offer a five day orientation for the staff on pedagogy and different approaches of Teaching and Learning. The members jointly agreed to increase the amount for orientation and re-training of Teachers to Rs.95,000/-. In addition to it, the amount allocated towards office equipment was reduced to 4 lakhs. Dr.Suniti Sanwal further asked the Management to identify sponsors for the orientation programmes. The finalized Budget was read out by Sr.Rosita and approved by the members.
The mode of appointment for the vacant posts for Biology and Geography were discussed by the members. Dr.Doreen Gnanam asked the Management to approach the TNTEU and Regional Joint Director for the appointment norms. Finally, Rev.Mother insisted Sr.Secretary to follow the procedures involved for the appointment of vacant posts. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Principal, Dr.Joseph Catherine. The meeting came to an end with a concluding prayer by Dr.Alma.
